Disneyland Day 00: The Attack of the Sandman
As look at my clock,I see we are T-minus 13 hours and counting till we board a Southwest Airlines flight to John Wayne Airport (aka SNA).
This trip is meant to be a celebration. June 21st is Father’s Day. I don’t know if we are really going to be doing much for that, but it’ll let me start getting in the mindset of parenthood since we are navigating the waters of adoption which means some day in the future I’ll find out that I’m going to be a dad.
On June 22nd, we are celebration the lovely Enchanted Rose’s 30th Birthday. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a woman so glad to be turning 30. But in her case her 30th birthday breaks the dam that is preventing our adoption paperwork from heading to China. They have a rule that both parents must be 30 before they can apply to adopt.
I hope there will be some surprises along the way as I try to make her birthday special. Beci Mahnken and her fine folks at Mouse Fan Travel have been doing their part helping me navigate the less than familiar Disneyland waters.
I’m sure the crowds will be large and the heat will but up (but it’ll be a drier heat than Oklahoma City), but fun will be had by all.
Expect my usual barrage of tweets on my twitter account and Enchanted Rose should be throwing up some tweets too.
Also, we’ll be doing a little mobile blogging as we take some pictures with our mobile phones and throw them up on the blog
If everything goes well, then I should be able to also provide you all with the trip reports you all have grown to love.
So, I have given ya’ll fair warning. The posts will be flying

D23: Issue 2 Cover Shots
I got some tweets on Twitter about wanting to see some shots of the cover of the new issue of Disney Twenty-Three Magazine. So here you all go (You can click on the images to see larger versions):

D23: Free “Gift” with Issue 2 of Disney Twenty-Three Magazine
Well, I got a ring at the doorbell and it was our postal carrier. She had couple very familiar boxes in her hand. They were the same box that our welcome packet and premier issue of Disney Twenty-Three magazine showed up in.
Personally, I felt it was way too early for the second issue to arrive, but who am I to argue.
When I tore open the box, I was greeted with a small envelope:
I opened up the envelope and found a small folded up item. According to the fine print on the envelope, it’s a reproduction of the 1955 “Acres of Fun” Disneyland Souvenir fan from the Walt Disney Archive Collection:
The item opens up to form a fan:
This was highly unexpected. Granted it isn’t an item of great monetary worth but it’s something that is really nice with it’s reproductions of originally 1955 artwork from the attractions that were in Disneyland during it’s first year.
This will definitely find a place in my cabinet of Disney collectibles.

Not quite a Character Breakfast
We aren’t able to get to Disney anytime soon, but Enchanted Rose whipped out or Mickey Mouse waffle maker and made up these little bad boys. Not quite a breakfast at Boma or Crystal Palace, but it helps get one’s mind wandering. For the record, her waffles are much better than the ones you get at the buffets at Walt Disney World
